In this conference, Axelle Vanhaecke (UT2J) will present the results of her study. The study conducted on young people and space revealed the persistence of gendered representations and expectations surrounding space-related activities. The aim of this talk is therefore to examine these differences and to question the place of women in science, and more specifically in the space sector. Although public policies have been implemented to encourage the feminisation of science, women remain largely underrepresented and continue to show less interest in space-related fields than their male counterparts.

To turn these insights into tangible change, Women in Aerospace (WIA) is leading the way. As a global organisation dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the space industry, WIA implements innovative programs to empower women at all stages of their careers.

Aude Nzeh-Ndong, a representative from Women in Aerospace, will share concrete examples of how the organization is making a difference. How can we challenge stereotypes, encourage young girls to explore space-related fields, and foster a more equitable industry? Through real-world case studies and success stories, this session will demonstrate the power of collective action in shaping a more inclusive future for women in space.
